Protest Trump’s racist Britain First tweets – No state visit!
5.30pm, Friday 1 December
US Embassy, Grosvenor Square, W1A 2LQ
Stand Up To Racism has called a protests against Donald Trump’s re-tweets of the fascist Britain First’s Islamophobic tweets that have shocked the world. His attempts to justify his actions are even worse.
Trump’s presidency has been marked by a series of disgusting racist outbursts from his “Muslim ban” to his equating fascists and anti-fascists at Charlottesville, despite the death of Heather Heyer.
Only this week Trump was making offensive comments while speaking to Native American veterans. Now he has offered support for the views of a group made infamous by the use of their name by murderer of Labour MP Jo Cox.
Sabby Dhalu, Stand Up To Racism Co-Convenor said:
“Trump’s latest tweets are a further chilling sign of his willingness to associate with a racist, Islamophobic and violent far-right intent on spreading hatred and division.=
“When Islamophobia and racism is normalised, racist and Islamophobic attacks increase. we’ve already seen a shocking rise in hate crime – Trump’s tweets and potential visit can only make things worse.
“All those stand against racism must oppose his entry into Britain and demand Theresa May does not grant him a state visit.”
Weyman Bennett, Stand Up To Racism Co-Convenor said:
“Trump’s actions are an encouragement to every racist and Islamophobe. It is a disgrace that Trump is still formally supposed to be making an official state visit to Britain”.
“We have to say enough is enough and that Theresa May must withdraw the invitation for a visit now.”
Maz Saleem, Stand Up To Trump Spokesperson said:
“Jayda Fransen is a convicted Islamophobe and racist, who is the spokesperson for Britain First.
“When far-right terrorist Thomas Mair murdered British MP Jo Cox he shouted Britain First. For Trump, to retweet several Islamophobia racist tweets from her account speaks volumes about why we need to stand up to the President of racism, Islamophobia and bigotry named Trump, and why he is not welcome here.
