Activists from around the country took part in a weekend of action to highlight the lack of action on the Dubs Amendment to the Immigration Bill. The Dubs Amendment, passed in Parliament, committed the government to bringing unaccompanied child refugees to Britain but so far this has yet to happen.

On Friday 14th October there were events in Chesterfield, Manchester, Bristol, Leicester, Birmingham and London. A number of people took selfies in their workplaces, schools and colleges highlighting the need to enact Dubs Now.

In London Alf Dubs, a child of the Kindertransport which brought nearly 10,000 refugee Jewish children in to escape the Nazis., joined a protest (including many children) at the Kindertransport Memorial at Liverpool Street Station. Prof. Leslie Brent, who was also a child of the Kindertransport also spoke at the protest saying he was “ashamed” of the government treatment of child refugees.

On Saturday 15th October Stand Up To Racism joined Help Refugees, Help4Refugee Children, Human Rights4Refugees, Refugee Support, Calais Action, Care4Calais, Help Refugee Children Worldwide, Fuze Beyond Borders & One Human Race for a protest at Westminster and Downing St.

Over 600 people attended the demonstration which included speeches from Stella Creasy MP, Colette Levy a hidden child of Vichy France, Prof. Leslie Brent a child of Kindertransport and poetry from Luke Miller and schoolchildren Summer and Winter (see video here). Keep an eye on our website for future activities around the Dubs Amendment and our Islamophobia Awareness month. #DubsNow
