Black Lives Matter: Round Table Discussion for the New Movement

On Sunday 19 July we are hosting an online round table forum for young activists who have been involved with mobilisations and activities around Black Lives Matter in recent weeks. We want to discuss with and learn from one another – and look at how we take this new powerful movement forward. As important as every activist is, we believe that young people need have their own space so would encourage only those under 30 to take part.

Stand Up To Racism stands with the #StrikeForBlackLives

GET SOLIDARITY SELFIE POSTER HERETens of thousands of workers in the US will take part in the #StrikeForBlackLives this Monday 20 July. Some will walk out on strike and join mass protests while others will mark the day with action for 8 minutes and…seconds, the length of time that George Floyd struggled for breath at the hands of racist police. The strike is opposing systematic institutional racism against black workers that effects everything from the wages they earn to the jobs they are able to get.The SEIU, Teamsters, United Farmworkers Union and the Fight for $15 campaign are heading up the action. This strike by black and white workers against racism is historic. We are asking all our supporters to organise solidarity with US workers on the day.Take a ‘selfie’ picture with your workmates or in your community or #TakeTheKnee for 8 minute and 46 seconds, and share your actions on Twitter with @AntiRacismDay and ~#StrikeForBlackLives , or send them to us at info@standuptoracism.org.uk

The McStrike BAME committee are hosting a solidarity event with a striking American worker plus guest speakers.
