Jeremy Corbyn sees off Calais Winter Appeal delegates

Delegates from the Stand Up to Racism Calais Winter Appeal were wished well by Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn tonight in Islington. The delegation will be leaving for the refugee camp in Calais tomorrow, taking with them donations collected from a number of fundraising events including a comedy night, social and music gig.

The purpose of the appeal was to raise funds for organisations working with refugees in the ‘Jungle’ camp and put renewed pressure on the government to do more for refugees living in atrocious winter conditions.

Already this weekend delegations from East London, Cardiff, Birmingham and Essex have taken over winter essentials, volunteered with distribution in the camp and delivered monetary donations from workplace collections.

More information about the delegation can be found here.
