On Friday at 6pm (12 August) Stand Up To Racism will be supporting Children’s Authors, educationalists and trade unionists as they protest the decision by the French authorities to demolish a number of children and community spaces in the refugee camp in Calais. The event will also highlight the appalling inaction of the British government on unaccompanied children (Facebook event page here).

The communal spaces include restaurants, shops and a Café that provides unaccompanied minors in the camp with hot meals and a safe space. Humanitarian organisation feel the closure of these spaces will be traumatic for people living in the camp and leave unaccompanied children in a more vulnerable situation.

We call on the French government to stop the eviction of communal spaces and for Theresa May to immediately honour Lord Dubs Amendment to the Immigration Act by relocating unaccompanied child refugees to Britain.
