Support “Windrush Generation” amnesty debate 30 April

April 30th,  4-7pm,  Parliament Square, London

We will be joined by Diane Abbott MP and David Lammy MP.

The Windrush Scandal has shown the racism at the heart of this government’s immigration policies. Men and women who have lived in the UK for decades – and have made a huge contribution to our society – have been treated like criminals.

The Home Office destroyed thousands of landing cards documenting the arrival of windrush-era migrants. As Stand Up to Racism President Diane Abbott has rightly pointed out, Theresa May and Amber Rudd are to blame – and not just because they have been in charge of the Home Office. The self-proclaimed “hostile environment” strategy has meant that Windrush citizens – alongside other refugees and migrants – have been treated as the enemy within.

We will gather to support the mass petition that has triggered a debate. We support the call for an amnesty for the “Windrush generation” who were invited to the UK as British citizens. We call on the government to stop all deportations, make sure there are no problems with documentation and establish an amnesty for those who came here as minors.
