This was so horrible. And the behaviour of the CRS is disgusting. They treat the people here like animals. It went on for most of the day and the winds carried the gas right across the camp for hours not only affecting those beside it but also everyone just trying to get on with their lives including many women and children. If any of my London based friends can help or knows of anyone that can help with donations especially tools /materials etc for building and fixing that’d be amazing!Everything will go to a great cause! Donations needed within a few days.

The tear gas has reached the family area and the police have not relented for 7 hours. Many wounds and lots of injuries…
France is still in a state of emergency so the CRS don’t need a why, but my guess is they saw a congregation of refugees in the “buffer zone”.
Whenever there is teargas it also whips up anger amongst the residents who will come out and watch what is happening to which the CRS will respond with more teargas.
There is also a ban on building since the southern section got bulldozed and since the fires last month destroyed all of Eritrea and half of Sudan all these people lost their shelters and are back in shitty tents and are trying to walk timber/wood into camp without being seen which pisses off the CRS who check every vehicle entering for building materials…

Usual crap. CRS out of their play box with one of their 5 coverall weapons – the famous tear-gas canister – the other 4? …Rubber bullets, batons that have broken teenage jaws, sneering misogyny…. And my recent fave – a cold disregard for the needs of desperate kids – ” ah, for the little children. Aren’t you a kind gentleman” *laughs derisively and blocks my car
